About Riviera Beach, FL

Riviera Beach is a city in Palm Beach County, Florida. The area was first established as “Oak Lawn” sometime in the 19th century but changed the name to Riviera in 1893. The community was formally incorporated in 1922 as the “Town of Riviera.” In 1941, the town added “Beach” to the name, and in 1959 Riviera Beach was reorganized as a city. As a municipality along the Florida coastline, Riviera Beach is home to several maritime facilities and attractions, including the Port of Palm Beach and Blue Herron Bridge, one of the U.S.’s most popular shore diving sites.

One study found that at least 4,000 surgical errors occur in the U.S. annually. Another report by the U.S. Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality found that wrong-site/wrong-procedure/wrong-patient errors occurred in about 1 out of 112,000 surgical procedures performed in operating rooms, although a VA study found that over half of these errors occurred outside the OR, meaning that the rate of these errors is likely higher.
