About Megan
Megan L. Sowell is a skilled trial lawyer at Rafferty Domnick Cunningham & Yaffa, where she represents individuals and families harmed by medical negligence. Before joining RDCY, Megan served as an Assistant State Attorney for Florida’s Fourth Judicial Circuit, prosecuting violent crimes—including homicides—and trying 20 jury trials to verdict. This depth of courtroom experience shaped her into a powerful advocate who understands how to build a case for a jury from day one.
Megan’s background aligns seamlessly with RDCY’s reputation as a firm built on trial-lawyer excellence. She brings a prosecutor’s discipline, a litigator’s instincts, and a commitment to accountability that mirrors the firm’s core philosophy: clients deserve advocates who are fully prepared to try their cases—because that is what drives results.
A proud seventh-generation Floridian, Megan was born and raised in Jacksonville. She graduated from the Episcopal School of Jacksonville before attending The Citadel, where she was a four-year Division I volleyball letterman and served on the Honor Court, prosecuting and judging Honor Code violations. These experiences reinforced the values of leadership, integrity, and service that define her practice today.
Megan earned her law degree from Florida State University College of Law, where she competed on the Mock Trial Team and served as a teaching assistant in Employment Law. Her commitment to patient safety extends beyond litigation; she has testified before the Florida Legislature on issues directly affecting the rights of medical malpractice victims.
At RDCY, Megan focuses her practice on spinal infections, stroke litigation, and complex medical malpractice cases. Clients value her combination of compassion, meticulous preparation, and unwavering advocacy—qualities honed through years of high-stakes courtroom work.
