Roblox Litigation Lawyer
If your child was approached through Roblox and later harmed, you may be focused on their safety while trying to understand the messages, accounts and platforms involved. You can seek a confidential legal review without having every detail of the timeline.
At Rafferty Domnick Cunningham & Yaffa, we help families examine potential claims involving child exploitation and platform safety failures. We review the sequence of events, identify relevant account and communication records and explain what the evidence must establish about each party’s role.
The claims allege that platform design and safety failures contributed to child sexual exploitation and assault. Those allegations require evidence and legal review. We examine the family’s actual timeline and the role of each platform before advising about potential responsibility.

Federal Coordination of Roblox Claims
On December 12, 2025, the Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation ordered specified Roblox child sexual exploitation and assault cases centralized in the Northern District of California as MDL 3166. The order addresses coordinated pretrial proceedings and identifies the allegations shared by the transferred cases.
The transfer does not establish that Roblox is liable, resolve every defense or automatically include every state or federal case. A family’s facts, claims and filing route still require individual review.

What Families Should Know About Case Updates
Court schedules and procedural rulings can change as litigation develops. Before relying on a trial date or a statement about the status of your case, ask counsel to confirm the current order and explain whether it applies to you.
The practical first questions are how contact began, what happened across each platform, what reports were made and what harm followed. An individual timeline is more useful for evaluating a claim than a prediction about a future verdict.

What is Roblox?
Roblox is an online platform where users can play and create experiences and interact with others. The legal questions discussed here concern the alleged connection between platform features, contact with a child and subsequent harm.
While Roblox has become a cultural phenomenon among kids and teens, it has also become a haven for predators. Adults posing as children use the platform’s chat features to gain access to minors, establish trust, and escalate to abuse. Despite repeated warnings and reports of harm, Roblox has failed to adopt adequate protections to stop this predatory activity.

How Are Children Harmed on Roblox?
Families have raised concerns about grooming, exploitation and other serious harm following online contact. A claim must identify what occurred and the evidence connecting alleged platform conduct to the injury.
- Sextortion – predators coercing children into sending sexual images or videos under threats of exposure or harm.
- Sexual Assault and Rape – predators using online contact to arrange physical meetings that lead to abuse.
- Sex Trafficking – children recruited through Roblox into trafficking schemes.
- Kidnapping and Violence – predators exploiting Roblox connections to arrange real-world abductions.
- Psychological harm – Families may report anxiety, depression or trauma-related symptoms. Qualified clinical assessment and treatment records are important; the relationship to the alleged exploitation must be evaluated individually.
Each family’s experience needs its own review. The presence of other lawsuits does not establish the facts or outcome of an individual claim.

When Should a Family Ask About a Roblox Claim?
A family can request a review when a child’s use of Roblox may be connected to grooming, sexual exploitation or assault. We examine the child’s age at each event, the accounts and platforms involved, reports to the companies or authorities, and the resulting harm.
An age label alone does not establish eligibility. Nor does moving a conversation to another app necessarily resolve which parties may be responsible. The facts and applicable law must support a claim against each proposed defendant.

What Are Families Alleging Against Roblox?
The claims described in the transfer order concern alleged platform features and failures that plaintiffs contend enabled child sexual exploitation and assault. These are allegations to be tested through evidence and the applicable law, not findings of liability.
A case may require examination of account settings, contact and reporting features, moderation responses and the chain of events across services. Company responsibility must be evaluated separately from the conduct of an individual perpetrator.

What Losses May Be Evaluated?
Depending on the applicable law and proof, a civil claim may seek compensation for medical or psychological treatment and other harm caused by the alleged misconduct. The child’s needs, treatment history and evidence of lasting effects matter; no standard payout follows from joining an MDL.
Punitive damages are not automatic. Any request for them must satisfy the governing legal requirements and the evidence in the case. We discuss potential remedies without promising a result.

How to File a Roblox Lawsuit
Our attorneys guide families through every step of the legal process.
Step 1: Free Case Review
Schedule a confidential consultation to discuss your child’s experience and determine whether you qualify.
Step 2: Preserve Information Safely
Preserve ordinary account identifiers, dates, report confirmations and relevant non-explicit communications without altering the accounts. Tell counsel and investigators where evidence may exist. Do not download, forward or create copies of sexual images of a minor for a legal inquiry.
NCMEC’s CyberTipline accepts reports of suspected child sexual exploitation. Its Take It Down service has specific instructions for images already on a person’s device and says not to send, share or download images to use the service. Immediate safety and appropriate care come first.

Step 3: Filing the Lawsuit
Our legal team will prepare and file your case, handle all negotiations, and pursue justice in court if necessary.
Step 4: Evaluate the Evidence and Available Remedies
We review the evidence, legal defenses and documented losses as the case develops. Any proposed settlement requires an explanation of its terms and consequences. A filing, transfer or early ruling does not guarantee recovery.

Florida Roblox Litigation FAQs
These answers provide general information. The facts, dates and law governing an individual claim require a separate review.
Does the Roblox MDL order establish that Roblox caused my child’s harm?
No. The December 2025 transfer order centralizes specified claims for common pretrial proceedings. It describes allegations concerning child sexual exploitation and assault but does not adjudicate liability in each case. The order should not be presented as a finding that every child’s use caused a compensable injury.
A family’s claim requires its own evidence about contact, platform features, reports, harm and the applicable legal theory. Counsel must also determine whether the particular case fits the proceeding and what filing requirements apply. Coordination can make shared work more efficient, but it does not remove defenses, guarantee a trial or create an automatic entitlement to payment.

Can a claim be evaluated if contact moved from Roblox to another app?
Yes, the sequence can be evaluated, but using more than one platform does not automatically establish or defeat responsibility. The review needs to trace how contact began, what occurred on each service and the alleged connection to the child’s harm. Responsibility must be supported separately for each proposed defendant.
Preserve ordinary account identifiers, dates and non-explicit communications, and identify relevant reports to the platforms or authorities. Do not guess which service controlled a feature or infer responsibility only from where contact first occurred. The transfer order describes shared allegations, while the federal litigation process requires an individual claim to be grounded in facts and law.

Should I send explicit images of a child to a law firm as evidence?
Do not download, forward or create copies of sexual images of a minor for an initial legal inquiry. Tell counsel or appropriate investigators where evidence may exist and follow lawful instructions. Account identifiers, dates and ordinary report confirmations can be discussed without circulating the material.
NCMEC provides reporting and image-removal resources with specific instructions. Its Take It Down service says not to send, share or download images to submit them; it is designed around eligible material already on a device. Immediate safety and appropriate reporting come first. A legal review should protect the child and preserve useful information without asking the family to reproduce or distribute unlawful content.

Does reporting to Roblox or law enforcement file a civil lawsuit?
No. A platform report or criminal report serves a different function from commencing a civil action. It can be important for safety and documentation, but it does not automatically preserve every civil remedy or meet a court’s filing requirements. The applicable deadline must be reviewed independently.
Keep report identifiers, dates and responses, and explain what was submitted. A family should not wait for a company or criminal investigation to conclude without checking the civil timeline. Counsel can examine the available evidence and proper route while respecting the child’s privacy and ongoing care. A report itself neither proves platform liability nor guarantees compensation.

Will a Roblox claim automatically be a class action?
No. The Roblox MDL transfer coordinates common pretrial issues; it does not automatically certify a class or make every family a member of one. Individual claims can retain separate evidence, legal questions and damages. A lawyer should explain the specific procedure proposed for the child’s circumstances.
Ask what needs to be filed, which records are required and whether the family will have additional obligations. Do not assume that reading about the MDL or submitting an inquiry places a claim before the court. The distinction matters because coordinated proceedings are a management tool, not a substitute for an individual filing or proof of injury.

Can my child’s identity be kept private during a Roblox case?
Privacy protections may be available, but complete anonymity should not be promised. Court rules and orders govern filings, redactions, confidential discovery and any request to proceed under a pseudonym. The applicable protections must be evaluated for the particular case and court.
Raise privacy concerns before sharing sensitive information or making public posts. Counsel can explain how records should be transmitted and what information may need to be provided to defendants or the court. A private consultation and a public court filing are different settings. The goal is to use appropriate protections while meeting legal obligations, not to promise that no one will ever learn the underlying facts.

Does a child’s age automatically extend the deadline for a Roblox claim?
No universal rule allows every claim involving a child to wait until adulthood. The applicable state law, legal theory, dates and statutory tolling provisions must be reviewed. A claim involving abuse, a platform feature, a contract or another theory may present different timing questions.
For a Florida-connected claim, counsel should examine the limitation and tolling statutes alongside the actual facts. Bring the ages and dates of platform use, alleged harm, discovery and any prior report or filing. Reporting to a company or agency does not automatically file a civil action. Prompt review can identify the correct deadline without assuming that minority alone protects every possible claim.

What records can help document harm in a Roblox claim?
Relevant records should show what occurred, when it occurred and the injury or loss alleged. Depending on the claim, these may include account information, ordinary communications, transaction histories, treatment records and school or work changes. Records should be preserved accurately and handled with attention to the child’s privacy.
Medical and billing records may generally be requested from covered providers, subject to applicable access rules and exceptions. Litigation also has procedures for obtaining relevant information and protecting appropriate confidential material. A chronological collection is more useful than selected excerpts that omit context. Counsel should identify the necessary evidence and lawful handling method rather than ask the family to investigate unsafe or unlawful content.

Does a Roblox claim require proof beyond platform use?
Yes. Platform use alone does not establish a legally viable injury claim. The evidence must support the conduct challenged, the applicable legal theory, a recognized harm and the required connection between them. The existence of other lawsuits does not supply those facts for an individual family.
A useful review separates observations from conclusions: what features were used, what communications or transactions occurred, what changed and what qualified professionals documented. Other circumstances may also matter. The family should receive a clear explanation of the evidence needed and legal uncertainties. Litigation procedures allow claims to be tested; filing a complaint does not establish that its allegations are true.

How would a settlement for a child’s Roblox claim be handled?
A child’s settlement requires attention to the applicable minor-protection rules and the authority of the representative. Where Florida’s framework applies, court approval and other safeguards may be required depending on the circumstances. A parent should not assume that an ordinary release is sufficient or that all proceeds can be used freely.
The review should address the child’s interests, the claims released, fees, expenses and how funds will be held or managed. If an adult also has a claim, potential conflicts and allocations need attention. A proposed amount should be evaluated against the evidence and terms, not accepted solely because another family received a publicized result.
